This year I have completed a 6-month internship at Mariscal Abogados, working mainly in Marketing and Communication. As a Modern Languages student studying French and Spanish, this internship has been an invaluable opportunity to deepen my linguistic skills and knowledge whilst gaining practical experience and insight into an international law firm.
Throughout my internship I completed diverse, interesting tasks such as translating articles and designing infographics for publication on the firm’s website, creating promotional materials and researching industry news. These tasks not only broadened my linguistic knowledge but also further piqued my curiosity to explore Law as a potential future career path. The continuous feedback for all tasks, especially translations, allowed me to track my progress throughout.

Despite not having previous legal knowledge or expertise, I particularly enjoyed the opportunity to attend a client meeting which involved going to the bank and public notary. This experience significantly improved my confidence regarding using my language skills in professional contexts whilst it also allowed me to draw comparisons between Spanish and English Law.
Working in different languages has allowed me to build upon important transferrable skills such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, adaptability, creativity, attention to detail, time management and research.
I would like to thank everyone at Mariscal Abogados who has made this experience so enjoyable. I am very grateful for the opportunity to work with and learn from the incredible expertise of the team. Everyone was always friendly and willing to help, and a special thank you to Laura Bernat and Rosario Rodríguez for their continued support and guidance. I would recommend this internship to anyone seeking to improve their linguistic skills in an international environment and gain practical experience in this field.
