On the 30th of November 2017, Mariscal & Abogados participated as a speaker at the GEO Pan Euro Regional Event which was held at the Umweltforum in Berlin. The session examined the regulatory and compliance framework for flexible remuneration in several jurisdictions across Europe, such as Spain, the UK, Germany, and France.
The GEO Pan Euro Regional Event is celebrated annually and is geared to companies, managers and high positions executives. Lawyers from Germany, the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Spain, and the Netherlands came together to participate in this year´s edition. This event aimed to clarify, disseminate and publicize the impact of flexible remuneration to retain, maintain and motivate individual performance. During the lecture, lawyers explained different types of flexible remuneration present in each country: annual bonus, stock options, restaurant checks, nursery schools, private insurance etc.) and analyzed its legal and fiscal impact in each country.
Ana Gómez, from the labour law department of Mariscal & Abogados, introduced the flexible remuneration in Spain, focusing on strengthening staff motivation. She analyzed share plans and economic rewards, which are considered financially motivating payments as well as fringe benefits. Besides, she addressed the importance of stock-based compensation schemes, which should be considered as a strong retention tool where high performing employees are precious assets.
