Ana Gómez, responsible for the labour department in Mariscal & Abogados, was elected President of the Board of Labour Lawyers Association (ASNALA). Labour Minister Fátima Báñez attended the inauguration that took place at the CaixaForum in Madrid during the XVIII ASNALA Congress last Friday. These two days of the event brought together labour lawyers from all over the country and became the largest congress in the history of the association, with more than 220 participants.
A law graduate from the Autonomous University of Madrid, Ana Gómez has about 20 years of experience, which she acquired in top law firms specialized in labour law, social security law and litigation law in labour and administrative matters. Currently, Ana is the head of the labour department in Mariscal & Abogados – the law firm founded in 2001 and is characterized by its international vocation, providing legal advice to domestic and international companies in English, German, French and Spanish.
In addition to her activity as a lawyer, Ana has developed a wide range of activities in conferences as well as national and international forums, such as those of the International Association of Young Lawyers (AIJA) and the European Employment Lawyers Association (EELA), and she is the author of various legal publications. She has also been a professor in several editions of the Máster de Acceso a la Abogacía (Master to Access to the Legal Profession).
Ana Gómez, who has been vice president of ASNALA since 2011, became the first woman to preside over this institution. The ASNALA, which this year celebrates its 20th year, was founded in 1997 at the initiative of a group of lawyers belonging to different professional associations. Its objectives include assisting lawyers in the performance of their profession, fostering specialization in labour law as well as disseminating a better understanding of Labour Law, Social Security and social-labour matters in society. Although, its scope of the activity is national, it has an intense international operation, in particular within the European community after joining several European and international associations.
